McClain Storms Back For Win at Miami Trace

A monster fourth quarter propelled McClain to their fist FAC victory Friday night in a 52-36 win over the Miami Trace Panthers on their Senior Night.

It was a slow start Friday night as neither team could get get any points on the board as there were more turnovers than points. McClain scored 7 points and had 7 turnovers and the Panthers had 4 points and 6 turnovers. Preston Saunders for McClain score all Tiger points in the first quarter. Things picked up a bit in the second quarter with McClain out scoring Trace 12-9 to take a 19-13 lead into the half.

The Tigers cleaned up their mistakes in the second half and were able to dominate the boards but ended up being outscored by two points in the third 13-11 but held on to a 30-26 lead heading into the final frame. 

The fourth quarter belonged to McClain, mostly their standout Junior forward Bryson Badgley who had 9 points in the quarter, 16 for the second half. The Tigers blew the game open out scoring Miami Trace 22-10 in the final frame to finish with the 16 point victory.

Badgley led all scores with 16, while Preston Saunders finished with 13 for the Tigers. On the night they shot 39% on 17/44 shooting, they were 14/31 from the free throw line for 45% and committed 15 turnovers. They move to (3-2) on the young season.

Miami Trace was led by Cameron Moore’ 11 points, he was the only Panther in double figures. Miami Trace shot just 36.5% from the field on 15/41 shooting, were 3/9 from the charity stripe and committed 24 turnovers. They fall to (1-3) on the year.
