Ohio Honors Fallen Hero by Lowering Flags

(24/7 News) -- Flags are being lowered to half-staff across the state to honor the loss of a paratrooper from Northwest Ohio killed in Afghanistan.

Governor DeWine ordered flags lowered at the statehouse and other government buildings in remembrance of 20-year old Private-First-Class Brandon Jay Kreischer of Stryker, Ohio in Williams County. Kreischer, a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, was killed in combat in southern Afghanistan on Monday.

Flags are expected to remain lowered until sunset on the day of Kreischer's funeral.
