Ellen B. Delay, age 78, of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A life-long resident of Fayette County, Ellen graduated as valedictorian of Madison Mills High School, Class of 1957. She attended Ohio University and The Ohio State University. Ellen married John Delay in 1959 and together they ran Delay Farms.
She was preceded in death by her parents R. Carlton and Ella May Belt and her sisters-in-law Annalee Belt and Maxine Kuntz. Ellen is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, John Delay, her children: Cassandra (Larry) Furlong of Mt. Sterling, Brenda Delay of Mt. Sterling and Todd (Sue) Delay of Powell, OH; grandchildren: Bradley Furlong of Kettering, OH, Sarah (Kurt) Eichorn of Delaware, OH and Emily Delay of New York, NY; great-grandchildren: Jake Eichorn, Abigail Eichorn, Mitchell Eichorn and Lauren Eichorn; brothers and sister: Bob(Nancy) Belt of Worthington, OH, Joe Belt of Orient, OH, Jane Belt of Columbus, OH and David Belt of New York, NY; sisters-in-law Norma (Gary) Hidy of Mt. Sterling and Gloria (William “Tip”) Robinson of Mt. Sterling, and their families; and the many other loving family members of the Delay and Belt Families.
Ellen was a life-long member of Madison Mills United Methodist Church.
Family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00p.m. SUNDAY at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 West Main Street, Mt. Sterling, OH 43143 (740)-869-2777, where her Funeral Service will be held 10:00a.m. MONDAY, JANUARY 15, 2018 with Reverend Kimberly Wisecup, officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Mills Cemetery.
