Raymond Junior Holmes

Raymond Junior Holmes, age 81, of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Highland District Hospital.  He was born on December 31, 1935 in Luttrell, Ohio, the son of Raymond Waldo Holmes and Donnabelle Anders Holmes Damron.  His wife, Betty Lou Fawcett Holmes, preceded him in death in 2009.

Raymond was a graduate of Martinsville High School.  He farmed, was employed by Pennington Bread, Clinton Massie School System, NCR, Frigidaire, AirBorn, and Wilmington Transit.  He was also a veteran of the US Army National Guard. Raymond was a fourth generation member of the Cuba Friends Church.  He loved fishing, watching war pictures , westerns and wrestling, playing euchre, country music, traveling and visiting Renfro Valley, Nashville, and Branson.

Surviving are his children: Connie McKinney of Wilmington, Judy (Terry) Hatfield of Midland, and Debbie (James) Wilder of Wilmington.  Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Dakota and Mikala Hatfield; step-grandchildren: Robert (Jessica) and Elizabeth (Dee) McKinney; great-grandchildren: A.J. Parsons, Ariel, Lilly, Malia, Daniel III, and Alex McKinney; along with special great grandchildren Cailey and Aiden Cordy. Also surviving are siblings: Gale (Connie) Holmes of Wilmington, Kathy (Richard) McKinney of Howard, OH, Vincent (Rita) and Rocky (LuAnn) Holmes, both of Wilmington, and Susan (Jim) Mattson of Hilton Head, SC. Grandchildren, Jennifer and Scott McKinney, also preceded him.

Friends may call on the family at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 11a.m.-1 p.m., when a funeral service will commence.  Burial to follow at New Antioch Cemetery.
