Charles Wayne Baird

CHARLES WAYNE BAIRD, age 83, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 1:46 a.m. at Fayette County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on October 17, 1934 in Ross County to Everett David and Lulu Elizabeth Acton Baird. He was a 1952 graduate of Good Hope High School and had attended Wilmington College and The Ohio State University for a short time. Wayne proudly served his country in the US Army during Peace Time. He worked all of his life on his farm raising Angus Cattle. He was an active member of the Good Hope United Methodist Church, the Good Hope Lions Club, Miami Trace School Board, Fayette County Cattle Feeders, Fayette County Ag Society, Ohio Angus Association, American Angus Association, had served as 4-H advisor for the Wayne Progressive Farmers, he was the chief at the first fire department in Good Hope, he served as President for the Fayette County Fair Board for several years, and he also had exhibited Angus Cattle at the Ohio State Fair for over fifty years. He enjoyed farming, working with his children and grandchildren on the farm, and raising his cattle.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Willard and Harlan Baird.

Survivors include his wife, Marcia Lynn Fletcher Baird, whom he married on September 14, 1958; his children, Cindy (Tark) Chester, Sharon Johnston, Julie (Brad) Reisinger, and David (Teresa) Baird; grandchildren, Courtney (Tyler) Wilt, Jared (Jennifer) Chester, Katelyn Warnecke, Austin Chester, Heather and Kyla Johnston, Kristin, Hanna, and Isaiah Reisinger, and Cassie and Bryce Baird; great-grandchildren, Corbyn and Alexia Wilt, and Kasyn and Maci Chester; sister-in-law, Ann Baird; brother-in-law, Jim Fletcher, and nieces, JJ Beatty and Christy Lopez.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Good Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor John Silveous officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Tuesday evening from 4-8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
