Ralph Corliss Hyer

Ralph Corliss Hyer, 94, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Friday, September 15, 2017, at 5:40 a.m. at his residence.

Ralph was born January 19, 1923, at Austin in Ross County, Ohio to Russell and Eva Stickley Hyer.  He moved to Washington Court House in 1961, from Circleville.

Before his retirement, he was a 30-year employee of General Motors-Fisher Body in Columbus.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Paul H. Hughey Post #25 of the American Legion.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mitchell Hyer in 2004; a grandson, Robert Alspaugh in 2013; two brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Marie Hollar whom he married October 29, 1947; eight children, Corliss Hyer of Bloomingburg, Wendell Hyer, Janice Hyer, Angela (Anthony Wood) Alspaugh, Donna (Mahlon Eblen) Hyer, Donald Hyer, all of Washington Court House, Rosena (Mark Clark) Cooper of Waynesville and John Hyer of Washington Court House; sixteen grandchildren, Amber Hyer, Kathleen Hyer, Corey Anshutz, William Hyer, Shane Burnett, Chris Taylor, Jacque Penwell, Shawnasie Turner, Makayla Alspaugh, William Black, Aaron Brown, Nathan Brown, Jeremiah Gardner, A.J. Cooper, Zurick Hyer and Korben Hyer; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Teets of Washington Court House and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place.  A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Frankfort.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
