Harriett Lee Holdren Day, 89, of Grove City, died Monday, September 11, 2017, at 4:51 p.m. at her home in Grove City.
Mrs. Day was born February 28, 1928, in Fayette County, Ohio near Good Hope to Frank Andrew and Dorcas Elizabeth Waters Holdren. She was a 1946 graduate of Wayne High School in Good Hope and a 1949 graduate of Christ Hospital School of Nursing.
She was a registered nurse and retired from Mercy Hospital in Springfield after 35 years. Following her retirement she became a certified diabetes educator and lectured for the Eli Lilly Company to nurses and doctors regarding diabetes.
Jack and Harriett Lee lived in Springfield, Ohio 37 years where they attended the former Central United Methodist Church. After retiring in 1987, they returned to Harriett Lee's home place near Good Hope where they resided until 1996, when they moved to Washington Court House. In 2010, they moved to Grove City to be nearer family.
Harriett Lee was a member of the Good Hope United Methodist Church where she was the organist and pianist for a number of years. She formerly was pianist at the Maple Grove United Methodist Church. She loved playing for the residents of Carriage Court Assisted Living, Court House Manor and Country Glenn Nursing and Therapy Center. She delivered Meals on Wheels and made noodles for 18 years at the Fayette County Commission on Aging. She loved playing the accordion, piano and organ and doing for others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Day on April 10, 2015; by her parents and an infant sister.
Harriett is survived by four children, Cathy Wilson of Springfield, Ohio, Jenny (Bill Bond) Day of Grove City, Patrick (Cindy) Day of Morgan Hill, CA and Sue (Kirk) Hamilton, of Grove City; seven grandchildren, Amy Day, Julie Beliveau, Sarah Hewitson, Lisa Wilson, Sam Hamilton, Kyle Hamilton, Kelsley Thomas; four great grandchildren, Cameron, Alexandra and Benjamin Hewitson and Charlie Hamilton; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lenoir and Everett Taylor of Washington Court House; a nephew, Bill Taylor and his wife, Debbie of Washington Court House and a niece, Cheri Wireman of Winchester, KY.
The funeral will be Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 12:00 Noon at the Good Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jon R. Silveous, pastor at the church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. until time of the service.
