Neil Richard Matson

NEIL RICHARD MATSON, age 86, of Washington CH, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Four Seasons of Washington CH.

He was born on October 8, 1930 in Franklin County to Bernard and Ruth Merritt Matson. He had worked at NCR, Chillicothe Correctional Institution, and was also an ordained minister for The Churches of Christ in Christian Union for more than fifty years. He proudly served in The Ohio National Guard for three years.  Neil was a member of the Heritage Memorial Church, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael Matson and Mark Matson; brother, Emmitt Lloyd; sister-in-law, Naomi Cooper; and brothers-in-law, Neil, Wilbur, and John Knisley.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Knisley Matson, whom he married on July 7, 1951; his son, Bruce (June) Matson; grandchildren, Bruce N. (Toni) Matson, and Allen Matson; great-granddaughter, Rylie Matson; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Lloyd, Gladys Marhoover, Joyce (Owen) Johnson, Sally Knisley, and Caroline Knisley; niece, Lynn Brown; and great-niece, Lauren Brown. Also surviving are several cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Morrison officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
