Melvin Eugene Holloway

MELVIN EUGENE HOLLOWAY, age 74, of New Holland, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 7:41 a.m. at Four Seasons of Washington CH after his long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born on February 4, 1943 in New Holland to Roy and Ruth Ater Holloway. Melvin retired in 2005 from Advance Trucking.  He had also worked for Melvin Stone Quarry, Holloway Trucking, and Schneider Trucking. He enjoyed drag racing, tractor pulls, and spending the holidays with his family.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Melvin Holloway Jr.; infant brother, Roy Holloway Jr., brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Nancy Holloway; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Lucine Mongold; and his two previous wives, Marsha and Majel.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Mongold Holloway, whom he married on January 20, 2006; daughter, Angela Holloway and her fiancé Jeff Moore; step-children, Dawn (Allen) Bruce, and Brian Beaty; grandchildren, Shawn and Kyler Murphy, and Gracie Ann Moore; step-grandchildren, Erik Beaty, Jachob Mossbarger, Kyra Bruce, Christian Beaty, and Brianna Beaty; siblings, Jeff (Vickie) Holloway, JoAnn (Bobby) Gillenwater, Caroline Vititoe and her fiancé Bill Arledge, and Nancy (Russell) Keller. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Hodge officiating with burial to follow at the New Holland Cemetery. In keeping with Mr. Holloway’s wishes, there will no viewing prior to the start of service.
