Gerald Dale Bailey, 91 years of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017. Dale was born September 11, 1925 at Samantha, OH., the son of the late Raymond Thomas and Mildred (Haynie) Bailey.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elsie (Cook) Bailey on March 29, 2010; one brother, Donald Edward Bailey.
Dale served his Country during W.W. II in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Dale was a member of the Fall Creek Friends Church: a 60 year member of Highland Lodge #38 F.& A.M. and retired from Western and Southern Life Insurance Company in Hillsboro after 30 years of service.
He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Eric and Beth Bailey of Westerville, OH. and Kevin Bailey of Cincinnati, OH.; six grandchildren, Laura Marie Bailey, Rachel Elizabeth Bailey, Brendon David Bailey, Devon Michael Bailey, Brianna Katlin Bailey, Kayleigh Monet Bailey; one great grandson Asher David Bailey; sister-in-law Marjorie Cook of Hillsboro; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Tom Stoops and H. Scott Latimer will officiate with burial to follow in the Hightop Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday August 8, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home with Masonic Services to be held at 8:00 P.M.
