Leonard Lee Butcher

LEONARD LEE BUTCHER, age 59, of Bloomingburg, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 11:18 a.m. at Mount Carmel West Hospital.

He was born on December 10, 1957 in Fayette County to Leo and Frances Houser Butcher. He was a 1977 graduate of Miami Trace High School. Leonard proudly served his country in the US Army during Peace Time. He had worked on the farm for many years bailing hay. He had a true passion for the great outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Joseph Butcher, and George Butcher.

Survivors include his siblings, John (Judy) Butcher, James Butcher, Margaret Butcher-Copley, Freddie (Pamela) Butcher, Orville Butcher and his significant other, Carol Wiseman, Mary (Kevin) Ellis, and Martha (Rob) Scott; and sister-in-laws, Becky Butcher, and Sharon Butcher. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Clary officiating with burial to follow at the Bloomingburg Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-8:00 p.m. and again on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held for family and friends at the Bloomingburg Town Hall immediately following the service.
