Richard Thomas "Dick" Monroe

RICHARD THOMAS “DICK” MONROE, age 68, of Washington CH, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 7:35 a.m. at the Adena Regional Medical Center.

He was born on May 26, 1949 in Franklin County to Helen Leath. He had worked at Thatcher Plastics and retired from the Washington CH Fire Department where he served as the Assistant Fire Chief, and also the Fire Prevention Chief. He was currently the Director of the Food Pantry at Heritage Memorial Church. Dick was an active member at Heritage Memorial Church and was heavily involved in the food pantry ministry, and also the Men’s Bible Study. He enjoyed fishing, doing paracord crafts, wood working, and spending time with his family and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Leath; son, Steve Sever; and brother, Earl Monroe.

Survivors include his loving wife of twenty years, Janet Myrtle Storts Monroe; children, Kim (David) Thompson, Randy (Dawn) Monroe, Scott DeWitt, and Denise (Kevin) Davis; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Bertha Staats; siblings, Rita Mason and Jim (Rosemary) Leath; and his loving pets, Meg and Sade. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Robert Kline Family Center with Pastor Justin Siler officiating. A luncheon for family and friends will begin at 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.

In keeping with Dick’s wishes, cremation has been observed.
