James R. Haley

James R. Haley, 81, passed Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Cape May in Wilmington.

Born in Port William on January 26, 1936, he was the son of Robert and Ellen Waldren Haley.

Jim was a Port William High School graduate.  He worked at NCR in Dayton, and retired, after more than 20 years, as a machine operator from Southern Bag.  He also worked as a realtor for O.W.Hunt and could be spotted at Haley’s Hot Dogs at the Corn Festival.  Jim was a former Lions Club member, served as a member on the Sabina Council, and volunteered with the Sabina Fire Dpt. for 18 years.  He started the Sabina Labor Day festival, enjoyed organizing parades, loved woodworking and attended many Blue Grass festivals.

Jim is survived by one son, Dean Haley, of Sabina.  Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Chelsie (Michael) Craft, Charleigh Haley, and Chase Haley; sister, Rita Butcher; brother, Pat (Brenda) Haley; and sister in-law, Nancy Haley.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Ferguson Haley.  The two were married on June 29, 1957.  Also preceding are two brothers, Kevin and Jack, along with a brother in-law, Richard Butcher.

Family will receive friends at St Columbkille Catholic Church, Wilmington, on Monday, July 17, 2017, from 12-1:30pm, when a Mass of Christian Burial will begin.  Interment to follow at Sabina Cemetery.
