Richard E. Tackett, 72, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away 8:55 AM, Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Chillicothe VA Hospital. Mr. Tackett was born February 7, 1945 in Wilmington, Ohio, son of Anna B. Brannon Myers of Wilmington, Ohio and the late Otis Tackett. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School and a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Mr. Tackett retired from Cincinnati Milacron. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1224 and the VFW Post 6710.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Tackett is survived by a son, James (Delainna) Tackett of Wilmington, Ohio; three daughters, Tammy Lynn (Mark) Hamilton of Portsmouth, Ohio, Tina Louise Kirkhart of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Beth Ann (Kevin) Kell of Hillsboro, Ohio; a brother, Tommy (Vanessa) Tackett of Kentucky; three sisters, Rita (David) Blake of Fairview, Pennsylvania, Marilyn (John) Beatty of St. Louis, Missouri, and Nancy Jo (Ron) Crouch of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In addition to his father, a son, Richard E. Tackett Jr., and a brother, Berry Tackett, are preceded in death.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, Ohio. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 49 Memorial Squad. Friends may call from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
