Robert Lee Hendee

Robert Lee Hendee, 66, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio.  His wife, Anna L. Collins Hendee, survives.  They were married October 30, 1971.  Mr. Hendee was born October 27, 1950, son of Evelyn Hendee of Wilmington, Ohio and the late Robert Stanley Hendee.  He was a 1969 graduate of East Clinton High School and later the International School of Broadcasting in Dayton.

Mr. Hendee’s radio career spanned 50 years.  He began working at WKFI in Wilmington.  He then worked at WSRW in Hillsboro and WBZI in Xenia.  Most recently, he was the owner and founder of WALH in Wilmington.  Mr. Hendee also worked at Buckley Bros. in Wilmington for over 30 years and owned Ultimate Impact Wrestling in Wilmington from 2004 - 2011. He was a member of the Wilmington Church of Christ, a longtime boys’ baseball and girls’ softball coach in Wilmington, and an avid bowler.

In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Hendee is survived by three sons, Robert Hendee Jr. of Wilmington, Ohio, Thomas Stanley Hendee of Wilmington, Ohio, and Brian Patrick (Kristina) Hendee of Wilmington, Ohio; a daughter, Rachel Ann Hendee of Peebles, Ohio; six grandchildren, William Hendee, Robbie Hendee, Ethan Hendee, Arika Hendee, Desiree Williams, and Areonia Russo; and two siblings, Trish and Bub.

Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Dale McCamish officiating.  Burial will be in Clinton County Memory Gardens.  Friends may call from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the        Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
