David R. "Poochie" Whitmore

David R. “Poochie” Whitmore 89, of Washington C.H., passed away on Saturday May 6, 2017 at Signature Health Care of Fayette County. He was born December 15, 1927 to the late Vernon and Iona Bell Whitmore. David was a veteran serving in the United States    Air Force during the Korean Era. David was a member of Rodgers Chapel AME. America Legion Homer Lawson Post 653. David was the Past Master of F&A.M. Cedar Grove Lodge 17, Past high priest of Lancing Chapter 11 Royal Arch Masons. David retired from Armco Steel.  

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Baker Whitmore, three brothers Bill, Charles and Fredrick Whitmore.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews Julie Stepter, William (Nedeane) Dent, and Vicki (Dale) Dent all of Washington C.H., Fred Whitmore, Donna Mitchell and Christine Washington all of Chicago, sister in laws Norma and Barbara Baker both of Jeffersonville, a daughter Rogine Phillips of Euclid Grandchildren Mario and Charles Phillips, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews including Wes Harris.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 11, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Morrow Funeral Home, Washington Court House with Pastor James A. Smith Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday May 10, 2017 from 5-7PM. Masonic services will be held at 7:00PM on Wednesday.
