Members of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and agents from the US 23 Major Crimes Task Force executed a drug-related search warrant Monday evening.  The search warrant was executed shortly before 9 p.m., at 416 Peddicord Avenue-Apt C, in Union Township.

According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, detectives received information of illicit drug activity taking place at the Peddicord Avenue location and during the course of the investigation, obtained a warrant to search the property.  The search warrant was executed without incident and 37-year-old Thomas D. Woods, of Washington Court House, was taken into custody at the scene for an outstanding warrant for violation of probation.

During a search of the property, suspected methamphetamine was located, as were chemicals that are used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Sheriff’s deputies and detectives secured the perimeter of the apartment and requested the assistance of the Ohio BCI&I Clandestine Unit for neutralization of the scene.  Members of the Washington Fire Department were also called to the scene for assistance.

Woods was transported to the Fayette County Jail and incarcerated, charged with Illegal Manufacturing or Engaging in the Production of Methamphetamine, a felony of the second degree and also Illegal Assembly or Possession of Chemicals for the Manufacturing of Drugs, a felony of the third degree.  Detectives are continuing their investigation and will present the case to Fayette County Prosecutor Jess Weade for review and further action by his office.

A female located inside the apartment was identified by sheriff’s detectives but was not charged and released.
