Judith A. "Judy" Ward

Judith A. “Judy” Ward, Age 77, of Bloomingburg passed away on Monday March 27, 2017 at the Mount Carmel Medical Center.

Judy was born on December 19, 1939 in Fayette County to the late Frank and Mary Haynes Welsh. She was a graduate of Bloomingburg High School. Judy retired from Cargill in 2003 where she had worked as a bookkeeper. During retirement, she worked part time at Frisch’s, as a cashier, where she enjoyed talking to the customers and “cutting up” with the regulars. She enjoyed playing cards and watching the Reds and the Buckeyes. Judy was the first female to be voted to the village council in Bloomingburg and later served several years as Clerk for the village. Judy was active in many organizations. She was a member and Past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 423 Auxiliary, a member and past secretary of the VFW Post 3762 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Along with her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband Sam H. Ward, whom she married on August 4, 1956.

Surviving are her daughter, Connie (Steve) McDaniel of Bloomingburg with whom she made her home; grandchildren, Sammy (Jaime) McDaniel of Bloomingburg and Kacie (Jamon) Spore of St. Francesville, IL; great grandchildren and the joys of her life, Kennedy and Maverick McDaniel, Jacie, Bently and JayLeigh Spore; brother, Billie (Martha) Welsh; sisters, Sue (Tom) Walker, and Jane (Mike) Henry, all of WCH; as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins, long time best friend Barb Wilson, her card playing buddies, and a host of friends.

Everyone is welcome to the graveside service at 11:30am on Friday March 31, 2017 at the Bloomingburg Cemetery, and for lunch following the service at the Bloomingburg Town Hall. Roberts Funeral Home will be caring for the family.
