A local native is serving aboard a "floating airport."
The Navy Office of Community Outreach reports that Petty Officer 3rd Class Dana Malinowski, a native of Clarksville, serves aboard one of the world’s largest warships, the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford.
Malinowski joined the Navy two years ago, and currently serves as an electrical technician.
She says she joined the Navy because she wanted to do something different. “I didn't want to go to college right away, I had just graduated high school and I was tired of going to school." She said it's also in her family Her grandfathers were in the military and her sister is in the Army Reserves.
