Highland County COVID Cases Goes Up

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Highland County is going up. The Highland County Health Department on Wednesday announced 114 total cases to have been recorded in the county since March. That includes 103 confirmed cases and 11 probable. 88 of the county’s COVID patients have officially recovered. There are currently 24 active cases within Highland County, six of which are currently hospitalized. Another 94 residents are currently being monitored for symptoms.

In Fayette County there are currently 13 active cases with one current hospitalization. Fayette County released figures that show a total of 76 confirmed and probable cases to have been recorded in the county since the start of the pandemic. 63 of the county’s positive patients have recovered.

According to the state health department Wednesday, nearly 87,900 total cases have been recorded statewide since the start of the pandemic, with nearly 62,700 recoveries. 3,422 COVID related deaths have occurred in the state as of Wednesday afternoon.

Ohio’s hospitals saw their highest number of patients with COVID-19 this week since the pandemic began on March 9th. Data from the Ohio Hospital Association shows that 1,122 COVID-positive patients were being treated in Ohio’s hospitals on Tuesday, of which 348 were in the ICU and 174 were on a ventilator. The previous high was in late April when the state saw 1,103 COVID-positive patients in the hospital.
