Fayette County Public Health Director of Nursing Tonda Bradley RN, is reminding parents to plan for the coming school year by ensuring their children are up-to-date on immunizations. Students entering kindergarten, 7th grade, and 12th grade this fall are required to have updated immunizations before they can start school.
Immunizations will be offered by appointment only, which is a change from previous years. There will be no walk-in immunization clinics offered. The lobby at FCPH remains closed to the public, and only those with scheduled appointments may enter the building.
“We know that summer is a busy time for families,” said Bradley “and FCPH nurses often see a rush of last-minute walk-ins for immunizations right before the school year begins. Since we are unable to accept walk-ins due to COVID-19, I would encourage parents to make appointments early.”
Parents should bring their child's immunization record. Schools and child care facilities must verify each child's immunization record to ensure all required shots are completed before entry to child care, kindergarten and 7th grade. Insurance can be billed. Visit the FCPH website at www.faycohd.org for a list of accepted insurance providers. Cash payments are also accepted.
