(24/7 News) -- Amazon has started hiring for an expected 1,500 positions at a new warehouse facility in Madison County.

Workers will pack and ship a variety of merchandise at the new, 855,000-square-foot warehouse in West Jefferson. The warehouse is expected to open in February or March.

The West Jefferson center is Amazon's third warehouse in central Ohio, joining facilities in Etna and Obetz. Amazon also operates an Amazon Prime warehouse on the west side and data centers in Hilliard, Dublin and New Albany.

Amazon employs 8,500 workers statewide.
