It was a Trace sweep on Super Saturday at Miami Trace with both boys and girls basketball victories over cross-town rival Washington Court House.

The Miami Trace Panthers closed the first quarter on a 5-0 run and started the second quarter on a 9-3 run to turn a two point deficit into a nine point halftime lead. The Panthers were down 12-10 with time winding down in the first quarter when Miami Trace Junior forward Delaney Eakins scored the final five points of the quarter to spark what ended up being a 16-5 run to lead at the half 26-17. Poor shooting doomed the Lady Blue Lions early as they only shot 29% in the first half, they had plenty of opportunities but only made 7 of 24 shots. The Lady Panthers weren't much better shooting 43% on 7-21 shooting.

Coach Leach and the Lady Lions made adjustments at halftime and came out and outscored Trace 10-6 in the third quarter to trail 32-27 going into the final quarter. Down by three, Blue Lion sharp shooter Shawna Conger nailed a three point shot to cut the score to 32-30. That was as close as it got because after the shot the Panthers went on 15-0 and outscored the Lady Lions 17-6 in the final quarter to win the first round of the Battle of Black & Blue 49-33.

Miami Trace 4-5 (4-1) was led in scoring by Senior Shay McDonald's 23 points and Delaney Eakins had 13. For the night they were 15-39 shooting for 38%, 2-8 from beyond the arc and were an impressive 17-19 from the free throw line. The Panthers out rebounded Washington 31-19 and committed 18 turnovers.

Washington Court House 5-3 (2-3) was led in scoring by Shawna Conger's 13 points. She was the only Lady Lion in double figures. They shot just 23% for the game on 12-52 shooting and were 4-17 from beyond the arc, they pulled down 19 rebounds and had 16 turnovers.

The Panther boys picked up their third league win in a row as they downed the Blue Lions 66-42. Trace came out strong and used their full court press to force Washington to make 9 first quarter turnovers that the Panthers turned into a 16-6 lead. From there Miami Trace rolled through the second quarter as they scored 25 points to take a commanding 41-20 halftime lead. The Blue Lions ended the half having committed 17 turnovers but they shot the ball, they just didn't take many shots, the ended the half shooting 53% on 8-15 shooting including 4-8 from beyond the arc.

The second half of the game was much more competitive as Miami Trace outscored Washington 26-22 but the game was far out of reach as the Panthers moved to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in FAC play. Their size and speed was too much for the Blue Lions as Coach Pittser used 6'8" Junior Forward Logan Rogers on the point of the press and Washington struggled to get the ball in bounds and when they would, the Trace trap forced 25 turnovers and frustrated the Blue Lion ball handlers all night, which led to a 66-42 Panther victory.

Miami Trace was led on the night by Rogers game high 20 points, Trevor had an excellent night offensively and defensively again, scoring 12 points. The Panthers shot 26-55 on the night for 47%, just 2-16 from behind the arc for 131% and were 6-14 from the free throw line. They committed 12 turnovers and pulled down 25 rebounds.

Washington was led in scoring by Mitch Lotz's 12 points. The Blue Lions shot 15-45 from the field for 33%, 6-22 from three point range, shot just 2-4 from the free throw line, committed 25 turnovers and grabbed 25 rebounds.
