Unopened Video Game Sets New World Record At Auction

An unopened 1985 copy ofSuper Mario Bros. for the original Nintendo game system just sold at auction for $100,150 -- a new world record for a video game.

It was sold to a group of collectors who pooled their money to purchase the game, one of very few that were only made available in New York and Los Angeles, when Nintendo was doing some test marketing in the mid-1980s.

The game that was sold at auction is supposedly the only known “sticker-sealed” copy on the planet. (Heritage Auctions)
