Get a dog. A new study found that dog owners walk 870 miles a year -- just while walking their pup. Dog owners walk more than 21 miles a week. On the other hand, those without a dog walk less than 14 miles a week.
75 percent of adults without a dog wish they did more walking, and 46 percent believe they would exercise more if they had a pet.
And dogs don’t just get you in shape – they make you more social. 23 percent of those surveyed said their pet has made them more outgoing and 16 percent feel more connected to the community. The average dog owner says they strike up two conversations with other dog owners during each walk. ( SWNS )
