Unplugging In The New Year

Cyber Monday was the biggest online shopping day in U.S. history, with people spending $7.9 billion, up 20 percent from year before.

That means, people spent billions on gadgets, which will add to the time they are plugged into a screen in the coming months.

  • Do you have any desire to unplug in the New Year? Even a little bit?
  • If so, what sorts of stuff will you do when you put your phone down?
  • Is there room in your life for classic games, like darts, pool or air hockey? How about board games? Books?
  • Do you you’re spending too much time looking at screens? Or, do you think it’s no big deal?

Brett Eldredge is trying to be more present by using his old flip phone.

He dug up his old phone and is challenging himself to stay in the moment by using it instead of a smartphone. He says, "Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of amazing things about a smartphone...but I gotta take a moment to experiment and see what it’s like to be here, RIGHT NOW, lost in the music and not in a screen."

Good luck with that, Brett.
