Southern State Community College continues to move forward with plans to bring a campus to Adams County. The board approved the purchase of 15-acres of land in West Union in July of 2017. Southern State President, Dr. Kevin Boys, says that property was recently closed on.
"We have closed on the purchase of some acreage on Lloyds Road in West Union," said Dr. Boys. "We're excited to look for a groundbreaking as early as spring of this year."
The new Adams County Satellite Campus & Workforce Development Center will be located on Lloyds Road on the 15-acre tract immediately to the east of the Adams County Career and Technical Center. The Board of Trustees recently hired an architectural firm based in Cincinnati to complete the work.
"At our last Board of Trustees meeting, the board approved the hiring of BHDP Architecture," said Dr. Boys. "They'll be doing the design work and overseeing the construction of that project."
Southern State currently has campus locations in Brown, Clinton, Fayette, and Highland counties. The plan to establish a physical presence in Adams County has long been on the trustees’ agenda.
