If you watch the Winter Olympics even for a little bit, you’ll see some strange stuff that may or may not even be sports. Ice dancing? Really?
With that in mind, is it surprising at all that the head honchos at the International Olympic Committee are considering adding e-sports to the Olympic Games?
That’s right. Video games may soon be an Olympic sport.
Two days before the Opening Ceremonies, e-sports were actually getting a trial run. Gamers from different countries were playing StarCraft II, a science fiction strategy game. While nobody took home any actual medals, Olympic Committee members were watching closely to see just how an e-sports tournament would fit into the competition we're seeing on TV today. (Time)
