Gerald Dean "Skeet" Pierson

Gerald Dean "Skeet" Pierson, age 90, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed awayMonday morning, January 22, 2018 at home.  

 

 He was born December 30, 1927 in New Vienna, OH, son of Guy Pierson and Fanny Ethel Fittro Pierson. On December 24, 1947 he married the love of his life, Thelma Jean Wiget. They celebrated 67 years of marriage before she passed away on December 27, 2014.

 

 Gerald graduated from New Vienna High School, class of 1945. He was a member of the New Antioch Church of Christ and former member of the Wilmington Church of Christ.

 Gerald was a farmer in the Clinton and Highland counties until 1971. He worked at Central implement and then worked at Wilmington College in the maintenance department and the WC farms. He also drove a lime truck for Bobby Current for many years.Gerald was an avid standard bred horse harness racing fan throughout his life. He never missed The Little Brown Jug race since 1965. For all the races he watched in his lifetime, he never bet on the first one.Gerald was an avid fox, rabbit, deer, and raccoon hunter all his life, as long as he was able. He enjoyed many family camp outs at Lake Cowan and Caesar Creek, where the extended family would join for corn hole and euchre games.

 

 Surviving are three sons, Johnnie (Margie) Pierson of Wilmington, Bobbie (Sue) Pierson of Sabina, and Ronnie (Pamela) Pierson of Wilmington, daughter, Connie (Randy) Vaughn of Chicago, eleven grandchildren, Kristin Reedy, Kari Pierson, Kimberly Curtis, Bobbie Sue Walker, Michelle Pierson, Susie Khandelwal, Amanda Swick, Levi Pierson, Andy Vaughn, Bart Vaughn, and Chad Vaughn, twenty-four great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral Services will be held at New Antioch Church of Christ, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Sidney Clay officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Antioch Cemetery.

 

 Friends will be received at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 W. Locust St. Wilmington, OH on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
