Dorothy McMillan "Dottie" Mockabee

Dorothy McMillan “Dottie” Mockabee, 92, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at her residence.  Her husband, John W. “Jack” Mockabee, preceded her in death August 3, 1990.  They were married June 6, 1964.  She was born October 12, 1925 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of the late Isaac D. McMillan and Helen B. Barrere McMillan.  She was a 1943 graduate of Wilmington High School.

Mrs. Mockabee retired from Clinton Landmark after 25 years as office manager.  After retirement, she was a volunteer at Clinton Memorial Hospital for 20 years.  Dottie was a member of the Wilmington Church of Christ        where she was active with the Sonshine Ladies.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, the Writer’s Group, the Clinton Co. Senior Citizens, and the Conversation Club.  She was an avid bridge player who belonged to multiple bridge clubs throughout her life.   Dottie was an extraordinary cook and won prizes for her baked goods.  She loved hosting parties in her home.  Dottie played piano and loved all kinds of music, especially the Reynolds Brothers Band.

Mrs. Mockabee is survived by two sons, John W. (Peggy) Reynolds of Mason, Ohio and Roger M. (Vickie) Reynolds of Wilmington, Ohio; a daughter, Robyn J. (Jimmy) Spragg of Wilmington, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Shirley Ames of Missouri; six grandchildren, Christopher Reynolds, Cassidy (Nate) Rose, Brian (Jenny) Simpson, Jennifer Simpson, Michael (Sara) Simpson, and Jami (Rob) Farrington; 12 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, her stepdaughter, Sally Snyder, and her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas & Mary McMillan, are preceded in death.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Wilmington Church of Christ, 909 W. Locust Street, Wilmington, Ohio with Michael Simpson officiating.  Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.  Friends may call from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Wilmington Church of Christ.
