CHARLES EDGAR “POE” SPEAR, age 87, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 3:40 a.m. at Four Seasons of Washington Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born on June 26, 1930 in Moss, Tennessee to Ellis and Nova Braswell Spear. Poe proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a self-employed truck driver until his retirement in 2002. Poe had attended the First Baptist Church in Washington CH. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed traveling, going on vacations with his wife, going to the movies, and being with his family.
Poe was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Brian Daulton; six brothers; one sister; nieces, Sally and Kate; and mother-in-law, Juanita Strong.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Sheila Rae Strong Spear, whom he married on December 27, 1981; his children, Danny Leroy Spear, and Barbara Spear; grandchildren, Brandon, Daniel, and Kristi Daulton, Danny Herald Spear, Amanda Killin, and Megan Winchester; great-grandchildren, Alannah, Makenna, Makenna D., and Damien; sister, Peggy Cleo Spear; nephew, Kevin Killion; father-in-law, George Strong; and sisters-in-law, Pamela Strong, and Karen (Darrell) Marshall. Also surviving are several other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 301 E. East St., Washington CH, OH 43160, with Pastor Joe Current officiating. Friends may visit at the church on Saturday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at the Clinton Memory Gardens at the convenience of the family.
