Luellen Benner, age 103, of Bainbridge, went to meet the Lord on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Hearth and Care of Greenfield. She was born March 18, 1914 in Salina, Kansas; the daughter of the late Lewis Samuel Weller and Mildred Hutsinpillar. At the age of 10, her family moved back to Ohio and began a dairy business on the Rapid Forge Road farm, Green Acres. Luellen continued to be involved in the dairy business after she married Everett Benner on August 24, 1935, of Benner Brother’s Dairy.
She was a 1931 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School. She was a Sunday school teacher and member of the Bainbridge United Methodist Church for many years. Luellen was Bainbridge’s Senior Citizen in 2006. She enjoyed reading, quilting and gardening.
She was predeceased by her husband, Everett Benner; a son, Charles F. Benner; a grandson, George P. Burke; a granddaughter, Mary Grace Benner; three great grandchildren and two brothers, Charles and Elmin Weller.
Luellen is survived by a daughter, Joy and George Burke; sons, Donald and Marty Benner and Ronald and Joyce Benner. Nine grandchildren, Jacob Benner, Susan and George Kidder, Molly and Tony McLeland, Greg and Linda Benner, Michael and Teresa Benner, Elizabeth and Kevin Arledge, Rhonda and Mike Thompson, Elwood and Angie Benner, Ben and Holly Burke, Vanessa and Patrick Wilt and twenty-six great grandchildren and three special nieces, Alma Jane Penwell, Norene Mapes and Julia Perry.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 pm Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Bainbridge United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Brookes officiating. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery. Friends may visit with Luellen’s family from 10 am until the time of service at the church.
