TERESA MARLENE POTTER, age 60, of Washington CH, was received in Heaven by her loving father, Ray Potter, step-mother, Shirley Potter, her favorite aunt, Margaret Hansel, and her best friend and cousin, Ava Streitenberger on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 9:39 p.m. at the OSU Wexner Medical Center.
She was born on March 1, 1957 in Welch, West Virginia to Ray and Josie Thomas Potter. She was a 1975 graduate of Miami Trace High School. Teresa proudly served her country in the US Army where she was stationed in Belgium. Teresa received honors for being the top trainee in her basic training program out of 191 recruits. After serving in the military, she attended Virginia Highlands Community College where she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Teresa had worked as a Hospice Nurse for many years. She enjoyed helping others, cooking, crafting, and most importantly, being with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her mother, Josie Thomas Smalley; her daughter, Ashley Jones, and her fiancé, Christopher Spicer; grandchildren, Little Duke, Daniel, and Izzy B.; siblings, Cheryl (Charles) Morris, Dennis Potter, David (Kim) Potter, and Duke Hansel; her best friend and father of her child, Blayne Jones; and special niece, Halie Hansel. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy D. Griffith officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In keeping with Teresa’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
