Margaret Anne (Margie) Sollars

Margaret Anne (Margie) Sollars, 93, of Washington Court House, passed away Thursday, November 9. 2017, at 1:20 a.m. in Washington Court House.

Mrs. Sollars was born October 5, 1924, in Chillicothe, Ohio to J. Walter and Clara Hyson Ewing.  She moved here in 1958 from Chillicothe.

She was a 1942 graduate of Chillicothe High School and graduated from the Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati in 1945.

Before her retirement she was a registered nurse at Fayette County Memorial Hospital for twenty years.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Circle of the United Methodist Women.  She had served as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross and delivered Meals on Wheels for the Fayette County Commission on Aging.  She formerly was a member of the Fayette County Professional Nurses Association and the Fayette County Historical Society.

On November 8, 1947, she married William M. (Bill) Sollars.  He preceded her in death on June 17, 2010.  She was also preceded by a daughter, Jane E. Pope on September 29, 2017; a granddaughter, Shannon Pickens and her sister, Jean Rusk.

Mrs. Sollars is survived by five children, Judith (Bob) McClaskey of Columbus, Suzanne (Philip) Pickens of Norcross, GA, Carol (Kenneth) Rowley of New Holland, Nancy (Wayne) Stillings of Washington Court House and David (Shelley) Sollars of Rocky River, Ohio; a son-in-law, Don Pope of Washington Court House; thirteen grandchildren, Sara (Dale), Rob (Christie), Mike (Hope), Andrea (Adam), Greg, Tyler, Brad, Ike, Brett, Ryan (Andrea), Ethan, Mary Margaret and Madeline and  five great grandchildren, Clayton, Alyssa, Alex, Abigail and Aron. Also surviving are a nephew and three nieces of Chillicothe and her special friend, Mary Lorane Davis of Washington Court House.

The funeral will be Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Mell Wickensimer, director of visitation at the Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. A private burial service will follow in the St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery in Chillicothe.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon Saturday until time of the service.
