Mt. Sterling Administrator Fired Without Explanation

The newest Administrator for the Village of Mount Sterling is out after an unexpected vote by members of Village Council.

During an emergency session held Monday, Council voted unanimously to fire Village Administrator, John Martin, who was chosen to replace the ousted Joe Johnson, who is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence after being found guilty of various charges, including Theft in Office.

No explanation for the firing was provided by council members. Martin took over for Johnson in March of 2016. He had been tapped to clean up the fiscal mess left by Johnson.

Madison County Sheriff, Jim Sabin, tells the Columbus Dispatch that he isn’t sure why Martin was fired, but he is prepared to investigate if necessary.
