James "Jim" Thomas Valentine

JAMES “JIM” THOMAS VALENTINE, age 76, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 6:45 p.m. at his home.

He was born on December 2, 1940 in New Holland, Ohio to Pete and Louise Williams Valentine. Jim proudly served his country in the US Navy. He had worked as a truck driver at Wilson Freight for many years and retired from Yellow Freight Trucking in 1999. Jim was currently serving as President of the Dragin’ Angels Car Club of Fayette County, also he was a proud member of the Masonic Blue Lodge #449 F. & A.M. of Bloomingburg, and the Scottish Rite. He had been attending the Crossroads Christian Church in Washington CH. He enjoyed rebuilding antique cars, having breakfast with the “Liar’s Club” at Ranchers, but most importantly, he loved being a husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Rusty Valentine; and his brothers, John, Eddie, Jack, and Harley Valentine.

Survivors include his loving wife, Joy Polk Valentine, whom he married on June 2, 1961; his children, Ronnie Valentine, Dee (Joseph) Hopkins, and Rodney Valentine; his special granddaughter, Mandy Babineau; grandchildren, Kacy, Justin, Annie, Janel, Andrew, and Kayla; fifteen great-grandchildren; and his loving canine companion, Sammy. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crossroads Christian Church, 175 Halliday Way, Washington CH, OH 43160, with Pastor Todd Maurer officiating with burial to follow at the Good Hope Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Friday evening from 4-8:00 p.m. The Masonic Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. where the service will be conducted by members of the Bloomingburg Lodge #449.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Dragin’ Angels Car Club, 261 Hickory Lane, Washington CH, OH 43160.
