(iHeart Columbus) Web sites which have at their core business retrieving mugshots from jails, then publishing them and charging fees for removal. That's the basis of the bill that's just passed the Ohio Senate. State Senator Kevin Bacon, a Defiance Republican, sponsored it.
Bacon says a person would face fines for charging someone to take down the mugshot. He says people desperate to remove bad information about them could fall victim to the shady and unscrupulous web sites. If the bill becomes law, the web site owner would face fines.
The bill is supported by the clerk of Cleveland Municipal Court.
