Doris E. White, 90, of New Holland, Ohio died Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at 11:02 p.m. at St. Catherine's Manor of Washington Court House where she had been a patient since September 7.
Doris was born February 3, 1927, in Sparta, Ohio to Harley Clinton and Hazel Bowles Barr. She was a graduate of Sparta High School.
As the wife of a pastor, she had lived in various communities. She returned to New Holland from Bloomingburg in1974.
Before her retirement, she worked in the claims department at Nationwide Insurance Company in Columbus.
Doris was a member of the New Holland United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Frank Allen White on April 1, 1974; by three brothers, Arthur, Harold and Earl Robert Barr and three sisters, Bernice Robinson, Carmen Kescher and Katherin Stryker.
Doris is survived by four children, the Rev. Russell A. White and his wife, Barbara, of Crooksville, James B. White of New Holland, Nancy Riker Wilson and her husband, Robert Wilson of Dublin, Ohio and Carmen White of New Holland; five grandchildren, Loretta (Russell) Moody, Scott (Stacy) White, Rachel Byrd, Christopher (Shay) Riker and Stephen (Shyla) Riker; many loved great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jane Van Hoose of Columbus and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday, September 22, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the New Holland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Dunham, pastor at the church, officiating. Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland Thursday from 3-8 p.m.
