JOHN FREDRICK JOSEPH, age 87, of Bloomingburg, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at his home.
He was born on September 7, 1929 in Lawrence County to Elmer and Minnie Davis Joseph. He was a semi-tractor trailer owner and driver for many years and he also worked as an owner, driver, trainer, and breeder of Standardbred Race Horses. John was a member of the United States Trotting Association, Fayette County Horsemen Association, AMVETS, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed working with his horses and being with his family and grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Terry Coy; and siblings, Maynard, Ed, and Bill Joseph, Irene Lipscomb, Bessie Allen, Mae Ireland, and Rose Jordan.
Survivors include his loving significant other, Marcia Massie; children, Vicki (Don) Jacobs, Tracy Joseph, Dan (Cyndi) Joseph, David (Mami) Joseph, Jo Lynn (Ty) Van Rhoden, and Lee (Debbie) Massie; grandchildren, Donna (Mike) Puckett, Kevin Coy, Dan (Christina) Joseph, Amy (Chris) Joseph, Olivia Bennett, Skyler Bennett, Cameron Van Rhoden, and Layne Massie; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren; mothers of his children, Delores Mills, and Betty Joseph; and siblings, Norma Cartwright, and Don (Phyllis) Joseph. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor John Pfeifer officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. In keeping with Mr. Joseph’s wishes, cremation will be observed following his service.
