Larry Paul Eltzroth, 64, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Manor, Piketon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Betty Eltzroth. He was a graduate of East Clinton High School and was engaged in farming with his family for many years. Larry loved raising and showing cattle and had a special talent for working with animals. He received the first Showman of Showmen award at the Clinton County Fair as an FFA member. Larry enjoyed gardening and his many pets brought much joy to his life on the farm. Larry was fun-loving and enjoyed getting together with family, friends, and neighbors. He thought any party was only made better if it included chocolate cake with caramel icing and homemade ice cream. He loved his niece and nephews who brought much joy to his life. He had talent and a passion for sports, playing baseball and basketball while in school, and enjoyed following the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Duke Blue Devils.
Larry is survived by a sister, Linda (Wendell) Compton, and a brother, Lee (Rhonda) Eltzroth, both of New Vienna. In addition, he is survived by a niece, Kathryn (Jeff) Peters of Leonardtown, MD; three nephews, Nathan (Kimberly) Compton of Dallas, TX, Dylan Eltzroth of New Philadelphia, and Derek Eltzroth, who’s a student at Northern Kentucky University; three great nephews, Grant Peters, Aaron Peters, and Logan Compton; and a great niece, Heidi Peters.
A graveside service will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Port William. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton Co. 4-H Endowment, 111 S. Nelson Ave. Suite 2, Wilmington, OH 45177.
