Gordon Ray Emery, age 83, of Ormond Beach, Florida, beloved husband of Grace (nee Poe-Justice), loving father of Teri Ka (Glen) Clinch of Sumter, SC, devoted grandfather of five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren celebrated his birthday with our Lord on August 11th.
Son of the late Harry Sylvester and Hattie (Glasscock) Emery , he was born in Highland County, Ohio on August 11, 1934.
Mr. Emery graduated from Whiteoak High School with the class of 1951 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 thru 1955. For a number of years he was employed by Cincinnati Electronics before retiring to Florida.
Surviving with the widow and one daughter: grandchildren, Erin (David) Kretzer,David Wells, Crystal (Doug) Layton, Eli (Ashley) Wells, and Remy Wells, great-grandchildren, Lila and Jackson Kretzer, Alexis and Alevia Layton, Anelise, Briella, Declan, and Finnegan Wells. Mr. Emery. also leaves behind five sisters: Marilyn (Paul) Hanselman, Phyllis (Howard) Bohl, Mary (John) Smith, Vera (Joseph) Robinson, and Beverly McConnaughey.
In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean (Eckhart) Emery, daughter, Beth Ann Bradley, twin sons, Ricky Lynn and Nicky Lee Emery, and a sister, Betty Gossett.
Services will be held at Sugartree Ridge Church of Christ, 2240 St Rt. 136, Hillsboro,Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm with John Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugartree Ridge Cemetery.
Family will greet friends Saturday at the church from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
