FREDA ANN SHARPE, age 78, of Jamestown, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 12:14 p.m. at St. Catherine’s Manor of Washington CH.
She was born on May 26, 1939 in Fayette County to Walter and Ruth Morgan Robinson. She was a 1958 graduate of Jeffersonville High School. Freda worked for many years as a cook at the former Grasshopper Whistlestop Restaurant in Jamestown, and retired from Jamestown Plastics as a press operator. She had been a long time member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the Greene County Senior Citizens. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and traveling with her husband.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Eugene Sharpe, whom she married on February 21, 1959; and sister-in-law, Carol Robinson.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn (Avery) Gilliam; grandchildren, Cory (Tabatha) Maynard, Michelle (Shaun Stephens) Maynard, Matthew Gilliam, and Andrew Gilliam; step-grandchildren, Tim Gilliam, Donald Gilliam, and Misti Gaston; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Robinson and his companion, Blanche Michael; and extended family, Don (Geraldine) Sharpe, Victor (Jackie) Wright, and John (Ruth) Wright. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Harold Price, of the Jamestown United Methodist Church officiating with burial to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
