JOHN EDWARD BILBY SR., age 75, of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 8:41 a.m. at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
He was born on July 6, 1941 in Wellsburg, West Virginia to James Edward and Virginia Mayhew Bilby. John proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He had worked at Midland Grocery Trucking, Bundy Manufacturing, and was the cook at the former ‘In the Mood’ restaurant in Washington CH. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and could be described by some as Michigan’s number one fan.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linda Harris, and Jean Lucas; brother-in-law, Donald A. Hidy; sister-in-law, Joan Hidy; step-son, Terry E. Caplinger; and step-grandson, James Carr.
Survivors include his wife, June Hidy Bilby, whom he married on October 2, 1964, children, John “Charlie” (April) Bilby Jr., Johnna (David) Land; step-children, Janine Carr, Dennis Caplinger, and Tony (Scott) Caplinger; grandchildren, Noah Bilby, Ryann, Jessica, and Heidi Hippen, Jimmy Lee, and Jackie Deskins, and Nathan Carr; great-grandchildren, Drayden, and Skylah; brother-in-law, Jim Lucas; nieces, Darla Barton, and Stacey (Kevin) Keller. Also surviving are several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home. In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation will follow. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
