Harriet C. Arnold, 86, of Sabina and formerly of Centerville, died Sunday afternoon, June 18, 2017 at Autumn Years Nursing Center where she had resided since September 2012.
Born September 23, 1930 near Port William, Ohio the daughter of Truman Sr. and E. Evelyn Sodders Arnold.A graduate of Washington C.H. High School in 1949 and Ohio University, she taught at Northridge Elementary in Dayton, Ohio for 30 years. Harriet resided in the Dayton area during her teaching career although she would spend many weekends and summers at the family farm in Sabina. She always enjoyed coming "home" to see family and friends and help her parents. Upon retirement Harriet spent most of her time in Sabina with her mother until she passed in 1997. Harriet was proud of her nieces and nephews and was involved in there many activities including birthdays, graduations, weddings, special ceremonies and family get togethers. She loved to play bingo and could watch twenty boards at a time. Harriet was a loving and caring person whom never knew a stranger as she would lend a hand to help anyone that needed it. Almost everyone friend or family knew her as "Aunt Harriet".
She is survived by a sister, JoAnne Lindsay of Sarasota, Florida and a sister in law, Lou Ann Arnold of Wilmington, Ohio. Nieces and nephews, Carol Lindsay, Billie Jo (Terry) Logan, Bill Jr. (Teri) Arnold, Barb (Bob) Naas, Barry (Renee) Arnold, Betsy (Jay) Adams, Brian (Lorrie) Arnold, Deanne (Dale) Whalen. She is also survived by 14 great nieces and nephews.She was preceded by a nephew, Jeff Arnold, her brother in-law Dale Lindsay and brothers William E. Arnold and Truman D. Arnold Jr.
Visitation will be on Saturday June 24th at 10am with a funeral service to follow at 11am at the Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina. Burial will be in the Sabina Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
