RONNIE DAVID COX, age 75, of Washington CH, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 3:41 p.m. at his home.
He was born on April 8, 1942 in Elliott County, Kentucky to Noah and Lola Lemaster Cox. He was a 1960 graduate of Bloomingburg High School. Ronnie proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He had retired from the Washington CH Fire Department in 1990 after 25 years of service. He was also a member of the Fayette County Commission on Aging. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, riding his bicycle, doing carpentry, flipping houses, going to the casino, and having breakfast at Rancher’s with his breakfast buddies.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Rhonda Sutton; brother, D. Rex Cox; and sisters, Sylvia Keaton, and Eula Torbett.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Leach Cox, whom he married on January 11, 1964; son, David R. Cox; granddaughters, Heather Sutton, and Cori Cox; great-grandchildren, Rylan “Bigg” Sutton, and Jerzee Lawwell; siblings, Wilma (Gerald) Clark, Loretta (Wendall) Oberschlake, Rose Smith, Nancy Smith, Pauline (Larry) Potter; and his special breakfast buddies, Chuck Winkle, Harvey Everhart, Richard Leisure, and Terry Summers.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m.
