Monty D. Posey, 78, of Englewood, FL, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at St. Joseph East Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was born on May 24, 1939 in Ross County, the son of the late Edward and Nellie Ward Posey. On December 24, 1958 he married the former Deanna Jane Blazer who preceded him in death on January 7, 2000. Monty married the former Beverly Lump on June 4, 2010 who survives.
Also surviving are his daughter; Cynthia (Dwight) Cooper of Bainbridge, one son; Douglas (Louise) Posey of Frankfort, one step daughter; Julie (Thomas) Angle of Smithville, TN, six grandchildren; Josh Pate, Matthew Ford, Katie DeVivo, Kiza Bowling, Zach and Jimmy Saxour, six great- grandchildren and one brother; Richard Posey of Oregon. He was preceded in death by one sister; Joyce Eller and one brother; Edward Posey.
Monty was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served on the U.S.S. Iowa. He was a welder and mechanic and also taught welding classes at CCI in Chillicothe. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Englewood, FL. He loved fishing, flea markets, car shows and he was Nascar fan and enjoyed spending time at the ocean.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 1:00pm in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort where military rites will be accorded by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.
