CHARLES WILLIAM “SKIPPER” NEWLAN, age 50, of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 3:25 a.m. at Fayette County Memorial Hospital.
He was born on January 27, 1967 in Fayette County to Glenn W. and Phyllis Freshour Newlan. Skipper was a 1986 graduate of Washington Senior High School. He was currently employed at McKesson and worked in maintenance. He was a member of the Crossroads Christian Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sabina Moose Lodge, American Legion, and Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics, bowling, and collecting hats, model cars, hot wheels, and John Deere memoribelia.
Skipper was preceded in death by his father, Glenn William Newlan; grandparents, Charles and Marie Newlan, and Leslie and Beatrice Freshour; nephew, Ryan Cox; and brother-in-law, Randy Cox.
Survivors include his mother, Phyllis Newlan, and her special friend, Tom Slager; siblings, Glenna Saunders, Jeanne Jett, and Patti Cox; nieces, Thei Saunders, Jennifer (Steve) Lyons, Lyndsey (Chad) Vaughn, and Leslie Mathews; his best friends, Perry Davis, Corey Patton, and Joe McKinley. Also surviving are several great nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Maurer officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-8:00 p.m.
