Carleton E. Cates,
Age 84, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away early Friday morning, May 19, 2017 at the Laurels of Blanchester in Blanchester, Ohio.
He was born January 21, 1933 in East Vassalboro, Maine, son of the late Benjamin Harold & Annabelle (Ingraham) Cates. On February 1, 1963 in Tennessee, he married Saundra Mae McMeans Cates, who survives.
arleton was a farmer, preacher, and teacher, who had pastored locally for the Cuba, Sabina, and Xenia Friends Meetings, and had attended Chester Friends Meeting. He had done alternative service during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, other surviving family members are his daughter- Anna Cates, Wilmington; 3 sons- Edward (Marcie) Cates, Seymour, IN, Jason Cates, Wilmington and Josh Cates, Wilmington; and some siblings in Maine.
Friends will be received from 2:00 PM until the time of services on Friday May 26 at the Chester Friends Meeting, 3451 Guerneyville Road, Wilmington, Ohio 45177. Memorial Services will be held 3:00 PM, Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Chester Friends Meeting with Pastor Nancy McCormick officiating. The Chester Friends Meeting will host a fellowship hour at the church immediately following the services in the fellowship hall of the meeting.
