Carol S. Pence

Carol S. Pence, 63, of Atlanta, Ohio died Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 6:12 a.m. at her home.  She had been ill three years.

Carol was born June 20, 1953, in Pickaway County, Ohio to Floyd Woodrow and Betty Mae Boyd Redding. She lived most of her life in the New Holland and Atlanta communities.

Before her retirement she had worked as a cook at Deer Creek State Lodge and the nursing home in Clarksburg.  She had also worked at Thatcher Plastics in Washington C.H.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Gunner Pence and four siblings, Alberta, Verner, Annabelle and William “Bill” Redding.

 Carol is survived by her husband, Charles A. Pence, Sr., whom she married July 6, 1971; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Brook Pence, Jr., and Scott and Angi Pence, all of Atlanta and Kevin and Annette Pence of Williamsport; 11 grandchildren; a great granddaughter and eight siblings and their spouses, Lillie Self of Clarksburg, Elizabeth Pence, Floyd (Pete) Redding and Thelma Redding, all of New Holland, Clark and Susan Redding of Atlanta, Sherman and Danna Redding of New Holland, Lucretia Bethel of Frankfort and her friend, Clarence  Lunsford, and Bernice and Larry Perkins of Sedalia and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the New Holland Church of Christ in Christian Union with the Rev. Larry Doss, pastor at the church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Waterloo Cemetery at Pancoastburg, Ohio.

Friends may call at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland Monday from 4-8 p.m.
