Mary Alice Hughes, 89 years of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017.
She was born May 31, 1927 at Sugartree Ridge, OH., the daughter of the late Ernest and Bessie (Tice) Bloom. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Junior Hughes; one son Jerald Lynn Hughes; five brothers Elwood, Denver, Gleason, Donald and Virgil Bloom; one sister Mildred Davis.
Mary Alice was a member of the First United Methodist Church and retired manager of Litts Brothers in Uptown Hillsboro for over 40 years.
She is survived by three daughters Sharon (Homer Kenneth) Bell of Hillsboro, Karen (Dale) Schraw of Hillsboro, Deborah (John) Malone of Hillsboro; one son Gary L. (Dorothy Vance) Hughes of Augusta, GA; 13 grandchildren Rodney Alan (Robyn) Bell, Stephanie Marie Bell, Jeremy (Crystal) Schraw, Amanda (Mark) Bigger, Brooke (Drew) Gibson, Dustin (Kari) Malone, Nick Malone, Mary Melissa (Paul) Parkison, Sara Elisabeth Hughes Ward (Walter) Petty, Tina Lakeberg, Andrew (Ali) Hughes, Ariadne Ehrich, Joe Ehrich; 20 great grandchildren Austin, Cody and Savannah Grace Bell, Josh Schraw, Carson and Keegan Bigger, Kya Gibson, Will, Jonathan, and Anderson Malone, Mary Cassidy and Sam Parkison, Blake and Matthew Ward, Taylor Petty, Chelsea and Josh Lakeberg, Charlotte Leone Hughes, James and Lucy Ehrich; one sister Geraldine Breckel of Wilmington, OH.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Tom Zile will officiate with burial to follow in the Sugartree Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
